Mountain Crest Mortgage, Inc. Awarded BBBOnLine Privacy Seal; Mountain Crest Mortgage, Inc. Recognized for Commitment to Consumer Privacy

Denver, CO April 10, 2000 -- Mountain Crest Mortgage, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded the BBBOnLine Privacy Seal. BBBOnLine, a subsidiary of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, is recognizing Mountain Crest Mortgage, Inc. for protecting consumer privacy on the Internet.

"Customer privacy is a very important issue and concern within the financial community. We are very proud of our commitment to protecting our clients confidential information," stated Partner, Michele Capelle.

The seal indicates that not only has Mountain Crest adopted and implemented an Internet privacy policy and data security measures, but it also meets the BBBOnLine's more stringent Internet data privacy requirements, including:

  • Establishing a privacy policy that meets BBBOnLine's "core" principles: disclosure, choice and security.
  • Assuring that its information management practices comply with its privacy policies, and that information it collects online is secure from unauthorized access.
  • Allowing individuals to opt-out or otherwise prohibit unrelated uses of individually identifiable information about them.
  • Providing consumer-friendly dispute settlement.

"Mountain Crest Mortgage has shown the strongest dedication to protecting consumer privacy by meeting BBBOnLine Privacy Program requirements and being awarded the BBBOnLine Privacy Seal to post on their Web site. We commend them for making a commitment to good privacy policies." said Russ Bodoff, senior vice president and COO of BBBOnLine.

Mountain Crest Mortgage specializes in providing residential mortgages in the states of Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming and New Mexico. According to Partner, Derek Bamonte, "we were among the pioneers in the mortgage industry who implemented a web site as an alternative way for customers to gather information and apply on-line. Since then, we have continually stayed ahead of the curve."

The BBBOnLine Privacy Program awards an easily recognizable and affordable online "seal" to businesses that post and adhere to online privacy policies that meet the required "core" principles, such as disclosure, choice, and security. It provides a consumer-friendly dispute settlement process and offers specific consequences for non-compliance, such as seal withdrawal, publicity and referral to government enforcement agencies.
